The Essentials team

Essentials of EM 2016 Education Fellowship for Canadian and US EM Residents!

In 2015, we selected a team of amazing EM residents for our inaugural EEM Education Fellowship. The result? See for yourself.

Chris Hahn (Chief Resident, Highland): “This is a huge opportunity. The Essentials/EMRAP/Hippo team is internationally known and is arguably the birthplace of online/podcast education. In the end, I got stage time to do what I love in front of thousands of people. That’s about as close to an American Idol golden ticket that an ER resident can get.”

This year, Hippo Education is excited to provide this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to both United States and Canadian Emergency Medicine residents. We are super excited to kick off the 2016 EEM Education Fellowship competition for Canadian EM residents, in association with Brent Thoma’s CanadiEM and Ken Milne’s The Skeptics’ Guide to Emergency Medicine. For you United States EM residents, we haven’t forgotten about you! Later this week, we will be announcing your opportunity with our original partners-in-crime, Michelle Lin’s ALiEM and Scott Weingart’s EMCrit. The selected residents will work side-by-side with internationally-recognized educators as part of the most popular EM educational conference in the world. Fellow responsibilities will include online chat moderation, social media management, CME preparation, research projects, and more. Do not miss this chance to be a part of the EEM team!

The Essentials of Emergency Medicine (EEM) conference is one of the largest EM conferences of the year with over 2,000 participants. This year it will be held at the Cosmopolitan Hotel from May 10-12, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  EEM is offering a mini-fellowship to eligible EM residents within Canada and the United States. Those selected to participate will receive:

  • FREE Live conference registration
  • FREE 4-night hotel stay at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
  • A $500 US travel stipend
  • A rare opportunity to meet and interact with EM’s master educators

The Application Process: Only one application submission per resident. Canadian applicants may apply through either CanadiEM or The SGEM. United States applicants may apply through either EMCrit or ALiEM. Applicants must be current residents in good standing at an accredited Emergency Medicine training program. Applicants will complete a brief online application and upload material through the online form. The application process is open now, and the deadline for submissions is February 8, 2016 at 11:59pm PST. Final decisions will be announced March 7, 2016.
